One Million Moms Fail!

I went out searching to see if the One Million Moms boycott on Gays in Comic books affected sales at all. specifically I went looking for Astonishing X-Men issue 50 in which North Star proposes to his long time Boyfriend Kyle. And sure enough SOLD OUT! And with issue 51 due out this month showing the Marriage in the issue I am bound and determined to believe that this one will sell out too.

I love how Mom's use the defense of brainwashing children and corrupting impressionable minds. Don't they do the same thing? If you tell a child from the beginning that if they don't do things in a certain way they are going to hell which is an awful evil place, are you giving the child the chance to believe on there own? No, you are forcing the child to believe in what you believe by instilling fear. Also what your not doing is giving your children the benefit of the doubt, if it is indeed a choice than you are not giving them the opportunity to chose for them self. There are plenty of straight male comic book readers out there who have been reading comic books since childhood and guess what? Gays have been in comic books for a long time, there just more prominent now because we are a Minority fighting for equal human rights and comic books focus on world events going on in the world. If anything straight men who read these comics are gaining tolerance and understanding. More and more I find straight men who are comfortable enough to have gay guy friends! Something really unheard of a decade ago because of the known fear that if a guy was gay he was after any and whatever guy he could get his hands on!
The world is changing slowly but there are still you bigoted fools who believe in a book written and translated by MAN instead of trusting in your own hearts.

JCPenny has refused to removed there adds and I think this is amazing!

How adorable is this add? Seriously, I see two children who were probably in an orphanage in a third world country that didn't have much of a chance for a better life. And these two men in love and happy are giving these children a loving happy home and a better life! Oh and they just happen to be gay!

If you argue that this is not OK than you are a bigoted fool. IT doesn't matter if you are gay or straight it doesn't make you any less of a human being, what makes you less of a human being is how you treat your fellow man.

And if you fight in the name of God to persecute others than I say you are even less of a christian.

One Million Moms out of control!

I have to post something about all these boycotts coming down the pike from One Million Moms. These people are absolutely out of control!

First I came across an article this morning about One Million Moms boycotting DC and Marvel Comics for including Gay superheroes in comic books, as well as gay issues.
There argument is that comic books are trying to brainwash there children by making Gay Superheroes who there children idolize and emulate. Stating that Gays don't need a gay superhero idol. And that the gay issues addressed in comic books are inappropriate.
Here is what I have to say to them! Comic books are not for children, the main stream comic books that include these themes and characters are for young adult to adults! I find it sad that they are more worried in there children seeing that North Star is in a happy monogamous relationship and getting married, than the violence and blood that is portrayed in these comic books obviously points towards an older audience. If your that concerned don't let your impressionable children read them!
Two Gays do need Comic book superhero idols. Your so called "straight" children are not the only children out there, young Teens who know who they are need someone to look up to to be strong, instead of people like you tearing them down causing loss of precious life! To have someone show them that they can be just as powerful and just as happy and just as normal as every other kid is important!
Three writers and designers of comic books are artists and have something to say in there work. Comic books since they began in the 50's have always spoke to world issues and politics and human rights issues. And guess what GLBT human rights issues are a big in the world right now!
I applaud the responses I have seen from the writers and artists of comic books so far who have pretty much responded laughing in the faces of these Moms up in arms. Stating things such as "please keep boycotting you increase our sales for people who buy our books just to spite your bigoted ideals." Thank you for upholding your ideals in the face of hate and bigotry and not buying into the pressure!
I can honestly say that as a 27 year old gay man, I would have killed to have a gay superhero that I could look up to for strength of self and confidence because there weren't when I was young and it would have given me the confidence I now have to be who I am regardless of what others think!

Second
They boycott the JCPenny's Mothers day add featuring two moms and there children, and now on the same front are boycotting the JCPenny's Fathers day add featuring two dads and there kids.
This is outrageous to me, cause guess what Mothers and Fathers in the home are not the only norm any more! There are gay Dads and Moms out there who raise perfectly normal children! This has been proven over and over and over again! Actually it has been proven that the households with gay parents do better for there children then a majority of the "straight" broken homes that are an epidemic in our society these days.
And I have to say that both adds were absolutely adorable and its about time we start seeing GLBT family's amongst the family's that make this world a diverse and incredible place!
Leave well enough alone, stop the ideals of bigotry and hatred.

To the companies taking a stand against these bigots and hate mongers thank you for staying true to yourselves and your ideals and not backing down in the face of pure evil hate.
These people don't realize that its ideals such as this that create the hatred that is so thick in this world a nuclear bomb couldn't dent it. The reason that man continues to fight against man is hate of someone of something you don't agree with.
You don't have to like it but don't try to force your ideals on the rest of us!
I myself will be buying these comic book issues and support the JCPenny's adds to show my support of these brave and incredible companies who are showing that there are many different kinds of people in this world and we all have the right of HUMAN equality!
